  • Hi everyone,

    I have some planned maintenance ahead that I want to notify you well in advance for. Fear not, this is very short maintenance and we have time to make arrangements with you to skip any downtime if you need.

    Reboot schedule:
    DallasOne (node5) - April 21, 12:00 AM US/Central
    DallasTwo (node6) - April 21, 12:30 AM US/Central
    *Down time expected to be no more than 15 minutes.

    We've been having some issues with the checkpoint module on this kernel. While these issues have been fairly minor, I do worry that they hold potential for future unplanned issues. Rest assured that we do not reboot for just any reason. Our current uptime record is 166 days, which is close to the amount of time we have been providing VPS services. However, we will reboot for a kernel upgrade if we feel that we are lowering your chances of downtime that could exceed that of the maintenance schedule and could be more damaging to your services.

  • Node5 is currently experiencing iowait ranging from 6%-25%. The system may feel a little less responsive than usual, but by no means at unacceptable levels. This is due to our backup procedure. I will work on adjusting our procedure to off load the data prior to compressing it for next week, until then I'm going to let this continue. It's not bad, it's just not "ideal." It should be over with before long.
